Planning Your Baby Moon – 5 Tips to make it Unforgettable

Are you expecting a baby and looking forward to taking the ultimate Vaca before your bundle of joy arrives? Whether you’re a first-time parent or already have older children, congratulations! Planning your baby moon should be an exciting time filled with anticipation and joy. A well-planned break from reality can be the perfect way to relax, reflect and enjoy some quality alone time together as a couple or as a family before you transition into this new chapter. I understand it can seem hard to know where to start when planning such a trip so I have put together this guide with my top 5 tips for planning what could become one of the most unforgettable trips of your life – Your Baby Moon.

  • Picking the right time for a vacation can make all the difference, especially if you’re planning a special trip like a baby moon. Avoid holidays and peak travel season whenever possible to maintain your comfort level, as airports and other popular destinations are often much busier during these times. Plus, airfare and hotel rates usually skyrocket due to increased demand, which can blow your budget out of the water! Researching online beforehand will save you lots of money in the long run and ensure you have an enjoyable vacation without any extra stress. Using Apps like Airbnb, VRBO and Booking.com can assist in finding great locations at the best prices. You can also bundle things like flights, hotel, and rental cars together for even greater savings through apps like Ortiz or Hotwire. If you can travel during the week as opposed to the weekend, you can find even deeper discounts. I usually recommend planning your babymoon close to the end of your second trimester but, most women can safely travel up to 36 weeks if they are staying local. Always talk to your doctor about any personal risks you may have when it comes to traveling.

  • When you start thinking about where to go consider your physical abilities, who will be on the trip with you, and your budget. Taking this special trip by yourself, with your partner or entire family will have a big impact on what kind of trip you plan. To make sure you pick the right destination for your baby moon, there are lots of questions you should consider – how far you want to travel, what kind of activities are available and what kind of lodging you would enjoy the most? If you are still early in your pregnancy and have remained active with no complications, you could do a more active destination with lots of walking and sightseeing. However, if you are farther in your pregnancy or have any complications it might be best to plan something lower key and relaxing.

  • Booking early is always a great way to get a better deal on your tickets, hotels, and activities. Planning allows you to compare deals across different providers and find the best prices while also giving you plenty of time to arrange any additional accommodations. Plus, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your baby moon is secured and ready before the little one arrives! You can always plan everything yourself or you could invest in using a travel agent. They are the best at finding great deals, accommodations, and activities tailored to your needs and desires. They are knowledgeable about many locations and can give you options that you may not have known about otherwise. With some forethought and early booking, it’s easy to snag an amazing deal for your upcoming trip.

  • Make sure to consider what activities are safe for you and comfortable during your pregnancy, ensuring you make the most out of your trip! Write down some ideas that you, your partner and kids can enjoy while on vacation, like having a long walk on the beach, visiting local sights, trying out new restaurants and cafes, or simply enjoying each other’s company. If walking is hard, you could always book a resort with tons of amenities, so you don’t have to leave! Don’t forget that taking some vacation pics is also essential to capture all the incredible memories from this special trip. I have photographed many family maternity sessions on the beach for Mom’s who come from out of town, they are always such fun sessions!

  • Packing light is important when it comes to traveling, especially if you’re expecting or are on a special vacation like a baby moon. Pregnancy can cause various ailments that could be aggravated by lugging heavy bags around. Keeping packing to the essentials can make a world of difference for your travel experience. It’s important that you consider what you really need so you don’t have to worry about any unnecessary bulk during your vacation! You can always get travel sizes of your favorite products or just buy reusable bottles and refill them with you loved brands. Try to bring key pieces that can be worn with multiple outfits, such as neutral pants that can be worn with many different tops or a dress that can be used for sightseeing or a nice dinner. Most accommodations offer laundry service, it’s easy to do a load of laundry mid-week so you have fresh clothes for the second half of your trip. Another good idea is to use packing cubes, these can be purchased on Amazon, and they are great for creating extra space in your bag since they are structured and offer different sizes.

Planning your baby moon can be a daunting process, but with the right research and preparation it doesn’t have to be. Start by picking the right dates and destinations for you, then book as early as possible to get the best rates. Create a list of activities and sights you’d like to see before you go, and don’t forget to pack light so that you can enjoy your trip without being weighed down. Finally, don’t forget all the important details – make sure your passports are up to date and take care of any necessary paperwork in advance.
